About Tripura

Tripura is a hilly state in northeast India, bordered on 3 sides by Bangladesh, and home to a diverse mix of tribal cultures and religious groups. In the capital Agartala, the imposing Ujjayanta Palace is set among Mughal gardens, and Gedu Mia’s Mosque has white marble domes and towers. South of the city, Neermahal summer palace sits in the middle of Lake Rudrasagar and blends Hindu and Islamic architectural styles.

Day – 01 : Welcome to Tripura

  • Arrive at Agartala Airport, received and transferred to hotel (15 kms / 30 min), check into hotel. Evening at leisure and overnight stay at Agartala.

Day – 02 : Agartala Sightseeing

  • After morning breakfast proceed to visit Lakshmi Mandir, Ujjayanta Palace, Jagannath temple, Heritage Park, and local markets where you can find the best bamboo handicraft by expert craftsmen. Evening free for personal activities. Overnight stay at Agartala.

Day – 03 : Udaipur Sightseeing

  • After breakfast we will drive to Udaipur (50 kms / 02 hrs drive), enroute we will visit Sipahijala Wildlife Sanctuary. On reaching Udaipur visit Matabari temple, Kali temple bordering Bangladesh, then we will proceed to Mela Ghar to visit Neer Mahal. Back drive to Agartala and overnight stay at Agartala.

Day – 04 : Agartala – Unakoti

  • After breakfast, drive to Unakoti ( 07 hrs drive), reach Unakoti and explore the ancient rock cut sculptures scarreted in a hillock, later explore in and around and drive to Kamalasagar and overnight stay at Unakoti.

Day – 05 : Unakoti-Agartala

  • After breakfast, transfer to Agartala. Free time for shopping. Overnight stay at Agartala.

Day – 06 : Final Departure

  • After morning breakfast check out from hotel & free time until drop to Agartala Airport. Trip End.

Bihu Is A Major Tribal Festival That Sees An Influence Of Bengali Culture And Christmas Too Is Celebrated With Great Pomp. Other Fairs And Festivals Include The Boat Race That Is Has Colourful Boats Race Across The Rudrasagar Lake Every Year, Orange And Tourism Festival Conducted At The Jampui Hills, The Only Place In Tripura Where Oranges Are Cultivated And The Pous Sankranthi Mela.

Today, The Influence Of Christianity In The State Is Also Due To The Patronage Of This Royal Family. The Legacy Of This Dynasty Is Visible Even Today In The Form Of Beautiful Castles And Forts Like The Ujjayanta Palace And Neermahal Located Which Is Close To The Manikya Capital Of Old Agartala.
  9. Festivities Form A Crucial Part In The Life Of The People Of Tripura, And They Are Incomplete Unless Accompanied By A Corresponding Dance To Suit The Festival. This Has Given Rise To Many Dances Performed By Various Tribes Of Tripura, And They Are A Perfect Blend Of Tribal And Non-Tribal Cultural Practices. The Garia Dance Is Performed During The Garia Festival To Pray For The Success Of Jhum Cultivation, Hozagiri Dance Of The Reang Community, Bihu Dance Of The Chakma Community And Hai Hak Dance Of The Halam Community Are Other Popular Dance Forms That Tourists Can Get A Glimpse Of In This State. The Most Distinctive Dance Is The Lebang Boomani Dance That Is Performed At The Advent Of The Lebang Insect That Visits The Hill Slopes Of Tripura. The Men Dance With Bamboo Sticks In Their Hand That Makes An Unusual Sound While Women Try To Catch Hold Of The Lebang Insect. All These Dances Are Related To Stages In Agriculture That Still Forms The Main Occupation Of The People Of Tripura.
